A Chat with Lady Petroba

Lady Petroba, a Belleville resident who took her show on the road a few years ago with the help of her son, Clifford, has acquired many faithful followers in the Upper Valley, thanks to her appearances on CHRO Radio in Pembroke and OVR Radio in Renfrew.

“I just love radio. I don’t really listen to what the person (on phone-in shows) is saying, but how they’re saying it,” commented Petroba.

She must be doing something right. Since she started offering her life-long gift to the public over a decade ago, there hasn’t been a complaint.

“If you’re not a good psychic, you won’t have the public’s support, and you won’t last long,” explained Petroba.

Although Lady Petroba doesn’t claim to be a super performer, she takes great strides to look the part of a medium, by wearing a long black gown, dying her hair black and wearing special “spooky” eye-glasses.

“In the same way a nurse or a businessman would wear uniforms and suits, so do I. It’s what people expect.”

Lady Petroba uses a variety of methods to divine the future including tea leaves, a 150-year-old crystal ball, hand writing analysis and personal objects.

Medium Takes the Mystery out of Seeing the Future

“Although I don’t actually see places or people, I can almost visualize them... sense them. An inner voice speaks to me.”

Thanks to her psychic reading and hospitality, Lady Petroba has taken fortune telling out of the arena of voo-doo, to the point where I see a professional sharing her gift and talent with others... sometimes under strange and humourous circumstances.

“I’ve done psychic readings in bathrooms, hallways, strip clubs - and with some strange people,” she smiled. But we’ll have to wait for her book to hear about those stories. In the meantime, Lady Petroba will continue with her primary career, divining the future and quietly making marked impressionson the lives of many.
